Israeli director and documentary filmmaker – David Ben-Shitrit.
May you remember Baruch!!!
Below is a message from Prof.’ Sami Shalom Shitrit – Sami Shalom Chetrit Head of the Film Department at the College “sapphire” : —
” It is with great sorrow and deep sadness that today we were informed of the death of the director and documentary filmmaker David Ben-Shitrit. (His picture in the photo).
Sincere and deep condolences to Sinai and the children, His brother and family.
His friends and colleagues in the film community are stunned and mourned.
David was one of the best documentary filmmakers in Israel, and moreover he saw the documentary as a tool in the struggle against the occupation and for social and cultural justice.. Among his most notable films: "Ghost of Kadim", "Through the veil of exile", "Quiet Daddy", Shoot.".
David was active in social and peace movements, Among them he was one of the founders of the Eastern Democratic Spectrum.
Over the past decade, David has waged a fierce battle in a lawsuit against the Ministry of Defense, After being brutally attacked by the kirya security guards when he came to visit the IDF Spokesperson's office. The attack caused him very severe injuries that deteriorated his health.. A month ago, the court ruled in favor of the state and rejected Ben Shitrit's claim. This caused him a loss of heart from which he never recovered..
May you remember Baruch.
The funeral will be held tomorrow, Wednesday 25/10 At 14:00 At the Neve Hadar cemetery in Hod Hasharon.
