Journalist Anat Sargosti, Who was a reporter and photographer in the weekly “This world” When Abnery was his editor, Told: “Uri was an innovative and creative journalist and editor who not only believed but also brought to the fore the idea of media independence. It wasn't just the newspaper's logo that was 'fearless and impartial'. He was a versatile politician., Which was one of the first to draft the vision of an agreement with the Palestinians and recognition of their right to independent recognition and the idea of two states. It's a perception he held until his last day and despite the situation continued to be optimistic.”.

Sargosti also said that “That was to be expected., But it's still very sad., Because he was active until his last day.. He gave me my journalistic values., Of always questioning, Always go to the dark places. I think there's very little else to do that.. 'This world' has always been different and brought the extra thing with the aim of checking what we still do not understand yet”.

Journalist Rino Tsror also worked with Avnery in the editorial board “This world”. According to Tsror, Avnery “He was the first journalist to establish the foundations of a free press and the one who paved the way for all of us here, as he put it, without fear or bias. Supreme Court President Esther Hayut used this phrase in her recent confrontation with Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked. So it was clear that the motto had permeated properly”.

He added that “Personally, Uri taught me all the work – Not just asking questions but about the whole world of journalism. He was a first-rate professional, He was our journalist. My great regret is that we did not know how to recognize him in a state manner and award him the Israel Prize and rise above the political arguments. Today we can say that our journalism is Avnery's life's work”.
